Life took me on a very different course, when I started swimming. Something he also did, and did very well, as a young boy. So once again I aspired to follow in his footsteps, and possibly exceed them, by going to the Olympic Games. Things were going according to plan, until some obstacles took it's toll, firstly the flu weakened by heart muscle(s), and finally I broke my back falling down 2 steps in the rain.
Just after I had injured my spine I met a guy. Today he has been my partner in crime for 13 years, husband for 8 years and my baby daddy for just over a year. ;) During our years together we have tought English in South Korea, had a band, met some amazing people and seen crazy-beautiful, awe-inspiring and sometimes really sad things. Our travels and exciting experiences made me pick up a camera again. And I haven't looked back since. Jonathan bought me my first real camera as a gift, when he realized I have a special fondness for photography, he could see it made me happy. And it does, it still does.
Four years ago, we laid my father to rest. He passed away the day after my 29th birthday, and I would have never thought when we said bye to him that day that, that would be it. The last time... I believe his legacy continues on through my work. It's something we had, we shared and had a passion for. It's another tool I can use to tell my daughter about her other grandpa, when she's older and can understand more.
But for now, I hope my Dad knows what a big inspiration he has been for me and Leanne Durand Photography to have started. That he would be proud of what I have achieved so far, and still planning on achieving.
He is the reason of my past, my inspiration.
My husband is my reason for the present, my inspiration.
My daughter is my reason for the future, my inspiration.
